|Welcome To The Official Website For The
U.S.S. RICHARD B. RUSSELL (SSN-687)
Laurin came aboard during my last year on USS Richard B. RUSSELL, SSN687, and fast became a hit in the "goat
locker". Laurin was a dedicated sailor, a strong leader and one of the most decent people I have ever met. He had a
great, strong spirit and a fabulous sense of humor. I used to watch in awe as he maneuvered through the boat and
those small hatches. I'm not sure, but I think he was at least 6'3". I was only 6' tall and used to bang my head and
shins all the time, but he went through those obstacles like a khaki clad ballerina; especially during drills. Rest well,
my friend. You are and will always be missed. Sailor, rest your oar!
